بطاطة بالكزبرة
Warm potato salad featuring tender potatoes and tangy cilantro for a delicious meal or side dish.
This is one of those dishes that are packed with flavour with so few ingredients. Potatoes, cilantro, garlic, olive oil and salt -- that's it!
What I love about this dish is that it is versatile, meaning you can serve it as a side dish or make it the main dish for breakfast or dinner. Traditionally, Syrians enjoy this meal for breakfast with pita bread and a steaming cup of black tea.
The star ingredient of this dish is the cilantro; the strong, citrusy flavour brings this simple potato salad alive. You will need an entire bunch for this recipe.

What type of potato should I use?
I like to use yellow or white potatoes when making this dish. I don't recommend using Russet potatoes, as their heavy amount of starch makes them better suited for baked or fried potato dishes.
How do I store this dish?
You can store this dish in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to five days. To reheat, put it in a saucepan with a 1-2 tablespoon of water, cover and cook for about 3-5 minutes, until heated.

Warm Potato Cilantro Salad - Batata bil Kizbara
Ingredients
- 1 lb potatoes peeled & diced
- ⅙ cup olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 bunch cilantro roughly chopped
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring ½ cup of water and olive oil to a gentle simmer.
- Add potatoes, garlic and salt. Cover, lower heat and simmer for about 7-10 minutes, until tender. Turn off heat and drain any remaining liquid (there shouldn’t be any).
- Add cilantro. Toss gently to combine.
- Serve warm or room temperature.

المكونات
- 1 رطل بطاطس مقطعة إلى مكعبات
- ⅙ كوب زيت زيتون
- 2 فص ثوم
- ملح
- 1 حزمة كزبرة مفرومة فرما خشنا
التعليمات
- . يوضع نصف كوب من الماء وزيت الزيتون في قدر على نار هادئة.
- تضاف البطاطس والثوم والملح ثم يغطى القدر ويترك على نار هادئة لمدة 7-10 دقائق حتى تمام النضج. تطفأ النار وتصفى أي سوائل متبقية.
- تضاف الكزبرة وتخلط جيدا.
- تقدم دافئة أو بدرجة حرارة الغرفة.
