    Banana Suzette

29 October 2021 by Safana Leave a Comment

    بنانا سوزيت - موز بالكراميل

Banana Suzette is the definition of decadence. Firm, ripe bananas are cooked in an orange-infused caramel sauce and served with ice cream, whipped cream or Middle Eastern ashta (qashta or clotted cream).

    How to serve banana suzette

Traditional Banana Suzette does not include orange blossom water, but I add it because I absolutely love how the delicate floral flavour enhances the zesty orange and warm butter sauce.

Banana suzette is usually served in a crepe or with ice cream, but I found it also pairs well with cold ashta.

What is the difference between banana suzette and bananas foster?

While both recipes are identical in their premise (cooked bananas floating in caramel sauce), bananas foster has one major difference: the addition of rum. You're more likely to find bananas foster on a restaurant menu because of the drama factor: the chef (or server) prepares it tableside and flambés it in front of diners for the wow factor.

Can this dessert be made ahead of time?

You could make the caramel sauce, refrigerate it and reheat it on the stovetop when you're ready to serve it. I don't recommend cooking the bananas ahead of time because they tend to lose their texture in the fridge.

Since this recipe can be made in less than 10 minutes, I recommend preparing it right before you wish to serve it.
